Jennie Marks

Consultant and contractor with expertise in policy, strategy and governance with focus on natural resource management

About Me

I’m an experienced advisor committed to supporting the sound development of strategy, systems and processes to bring about effective policy and organisational change. After nearly 20 years working in or for central and local government, I’m supporting clients with professional services.

Whether it is reviewing functions or improving the way things are done to get better results and move faster towards outcomes or applying a sharper lens to complex policy issues – I’m here to help.

I thrive when supporting leaders working through complex issues at the nexus of economic, social, and environmental dimensions. As a big-picture thinker, I foster strategic approaches to leadership, and drive for robust analysis and transparency without losing focus.

My deep subject matter expertise is in natural resources management, environment and climate change policy, as well as regional economic development, governance, and government processes.

In times of change, I can map out the pathway for building a new way of doing things and design programmes that are ready to grow and those that need to be more concentrated or involve redirecting resources.

I live with my husband, teenage sons and various animals in the beautiful Wairarapa.

Here we grow food, plants trees and generally embrace the good life. It keeps us real and grounded and enables me to stay tuned to the practicalities around land use when I work on strategic or operational policies and systems.
